The New Federal Skilled Worker Program Occupations List

The New Federal Skilled Worker Program
 Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has temporarily stopped accepting applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) as of July 1, 2012. New applications will likely to be accepted when the revised FSWP selection criteria take effect in early 2013. And according to Immigration Minister himself, the new FSW program will not be limited to particular occupations.  All occupations classified under NOC 0, A and B will be eligible to apply!

And right now you can see in the website of Government of Canada

WORK EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

If your application is eligible for processing, it will then be assessed against minimum requirements.
Your work experience must be:
  • at least one year, continuous, and paid (full-time or the equivalent in part-time); AND
  • a skill type 0 (managerial occupations) or skill level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC) list.

Determine your eligibility

NOC Category 0 refers to all managerial positions.
NOC Level A (0 OR 1) are occupations that require University degree (bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate).
NOC Skill Level B (2 0R 3) (NOC Skill Level  2 OR  3)
 are occupations that require two to three years of post-secondary education at community college, institute of technology or CÉGEP. Occupations with supervisory responsibilities are also assigned to skill level B. Occupations with significant health and safety responsibilities (e.g., fire fighters, police officers and licensed practical nurses) are assigned to skill level B.
If you have at least one year experience in any of the the said job classifications, yes, you may be eligible to apply!  This is of course subject to the new points system. You may be eligible, but are you ready?

News Release — Revised Federal Skilled Worker Program Unveiled

“The Federal Skilled Worker Program is Canada’s largest economic immigration program,” said Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney. “The changes we are making to update the selection criteria are based on a large body of data and evidence we've accumulated over the years showing what skills and qualifications are most likely to lead to success for skilled immigrants.”Ottawa, August 17, 2012 — Proposed regulatory changes announced today to the Federal Skilled Worker Program ( FSWP ) will allow Canada to better select skilled workers who can “hit the ground running” upon arrival.

Following an extensive program evaluation, stakeholder and public consultations, as well as other research, Citizenship and Immigration Canada ( CIC ) is proposing the following changes to the  FSWP :
  • Making language the most important selection factor by establishing new minimum official language thresholds and increasing points for language;
  • Increasing the emphasis on younger immigrants, who are more likely to acquire valuable Canadian experience and remain in the workforce longer;
  • Increasing points for Canadian work experience and reducing points for foreign work experience;
  • Simplifying the arranged employment process to prevent fraud and abuse yet enable employers to staff positions quickly; and
  • Awarding points for spousal language ability and Canadian experience.
Another proposed change is the introduction of the Educational Credential Assessment – a mandatory requirement that  FSWP  applicants have their education abroad assessed against Canadian education standards by designated organizations.  CIC  will then award points according to how an applicant’s foreign educational credential compares to a completed educational credential in Canada. It does not necessarily guarantee that they would become licensed to practice in a regulated occupation.
“This is an important step we are taking to address the problem of immigrants arriving and not being able to work in their field,” stated Minister Kenney. “This new requirement will help potential newcomers make informed choices about immigration and Canadian career paths.”
CIC  will be issuing a Call for Service Proposals on August 20, 2012, inviting submissions from organizations with expertise in foreign credential assessment to conduct the reviews. The deadline for submissions is September 21, 2012. For more information, please visit  CIC ’s International Qualifications Network website.

The full text of the proposed  FSWP  regulatory changes is now available online in theCanada Gazette. They also include improvements to the Canadian Experience Class and the creation of a new Federal Skilled Trades Program. The Department welcomes input from stakeholders and interested parties.

Final publication is scheduled for late 2012 and the new  FSWP  points grid will likely take effect in January 2013. While there is currently a pause on new applications (except for FSWP  candidates with a qualifying offer of arranged employment or those applying under the PhD stream),  CIC  expects to begin accepting applications again early next year.
These changes have been announced by Minister Kenney in the past year.

Amends in PR for Canada – Time to Act Now!

The immigration policies for  Canada have been amended. These changes cannot exactly be considered as being immigrant friendly, especially for the prospective immigrants. The occupational lists will be start accepting Application by January 2013.

As already announced  last June 2011, Canada would accept limited number of applications under the Federal Skilled Worker program every year. The quota for the year (July 1) 2011 to (June 30th) 2012, is only 10,000 applications. In addition, no more than 500 applications will be accepted per occupation.

Canada will continue to accept permanent and temporary residents at a similar level as recent years. Last year, the country welcomed 250,000 new permanent residents and almost 200,000 temporary foreign workers. There are no plans to decrease these numbers, and this is proof that the door to Canada remains very much open. There are a number of popular Canadian immigration programs that are continuing to accept applications from eligible individuals, which will ensure that immigration continues on all levels.

Opportunity comes and out . Opportunity  will be knock not once but maybe many times but not as often. But its up to you how you want to Prepare for it when it comes, so that it will not lost again to you.

  Had the Government of Canada started accepting applications last July 1, 2012, you may have to wait again for another year to immigrate.  You are really lucky! Not everybody have the education, training and experience that would make them eligible. Don't waste this opportunity.

Many of those who already Start their Application are already complete and Prepared.How About you are you Prepared  for January 2013? If You didn't Prepared your Application as Early as Now, How Soon can you complete All Required documents or Else by when new quota may again be over.  You should start preparing your documents now!

What does it mean to intended and interested applicants who plan to immigrate to Canada?
Immigration is no longer a “simplified” application process. Documentation and assessment requirements are extensive and time consuming. Preparing and filing an immigration application under the federal skilled worker program to Canada or under the skilled migrant program to Australia can now be called a “project” by itself. As a matter of fact, many qualifying applicants for NOC 1122 lost the chance to file an application because of the time it took them to complete the documentation formalities.. The Time to Act therefore is Now! With new lists and quota (Canada)  you should kick-start the process of getting your forms and documents in order immediately and without delays. If you will wait  for  December  or January you will delaying your Application, because It has to be noted that meeting all the requirements and skills assessment can take many months. Then, as soon as you complete all required docs , processes come into operation  you are ready to file your application.

Otherwise, you have to start the same process after January 2013 and file the application by  end of month by when new quota may again be over.
